Welcome to Watford Credit Union

See below for latest information on actions because of Covid 19 pandemic. The 2021 AGM has agreed a 0.7% Dividend.

Urgent Notice.Updated 11th of March 2021.
Due to the continued absence of volunteers to asses loans,we cannot guarantee any loans will be processed until June 2021.

Dear member,

In response to the current Corona virus outbreak and following advice from our trade body ABCUL and clarification from the FCA and PRA, the Watford Credit Union has had to take the following steps:

  • All collection points will be closed with effect from tomorrow, 19th March 2020.  If you normally make your loan repayments by cash, you will need to make arrangements to pay by standing order or bank transfer.  Please remember, ALWAYS quote your membership number as the reference.  Contact us if you need help with this.

  • Please only leave telephone messages if it is absolutely necessary.  There will be a much reduced volunteer capacity in the office to deal with them.

  • We will try to process share withdrawals within five working days in accordance with our standard policy.  If you already have a nominated bank account registered with us for withdrawals, then you can make a request by email or telephone message. and post the completed form to the office.  A nominated bank account form can also be found at (www.watfordcreditunion.co.uk/documents.html).  Once completed, this can be posted to us or scanned and sent by email.  If you do not have a bank account debit card and need cash withdrawals we could organise an Engage Card,  see https://engageaccount.com for more information.  If you register this as your Nominated Account we can transfer your savings onto the card and you can get cash from a shop or ATM.

  • Share withdrawals will be limited to one per week per member.

  • If you have applied or want to apply for a loan, please allow plenty of time, as the assessment and processing will take longer. You may need to submit documents by email.

The situation will be kept under review and we will update our website with any changes to these arrangements in due course.

Help us to help you.
Please do not post duplicate Share Withdrawal's. Whenever possible, plan ahead and make one larger withdrawal rather than several small ones.
Monetary limits. The maximum savings you can have in Watford Credit Union is £15,000. A member can apply for a loan of 3 times savings after 13 weeks membership, the first loan is limited to £5000, the maximum loan is £10,000.

Perhaps you can help in the future by joining our team of volunteers and learning how to help run Watford Credit Union. If you are able to commit a few hours on a regular basis please contact info@watfordcreditunion.co.uk
We are also looking for members  who can make a bigger commitment and take on more management responsibility including standing for election to the Board of Directors.
